The Author

Hello mice-lovers!

I just wanted to leave a little message here as the person behind Ella McCheddar and the Caerphillian Mice stories. My name is Faith Emmanuel, and I started penning various animal adventures in the back of my schoolbooks when I was sixteen. I guess I realise now that I really should have been paying more attention during lessons, but back then it was a very effective escape from my troubled little world.

After leaving school, I studied art at two different colleges, but left each time because of a lack of funds. I worked, and continued selling not-for-profit prints in my spare time for several years. It was also during this time, that I began to return to my Christian faith which had been neglected for years.
I began attending several rural churches, each of them known for their mice-friends, and I'm afraid, that old artistic streak began to run away with me. With an increasing interest in theology, and a love of all things cute and squeeky, I began writing incredibly short Christian children's stories about a family of church inhabiting mice.

Unfortunately, when I began my wonderful theology degree at York St. John University, these stories were put on hold and it has taken me two years to return to them. I am now trying to pull together my many years of thoughts, theology and inspiration to compile a collection of illustrated stories, as fun teaching aids for Christian children. I still consider myself to be quite childish at heart, and I get so much joy in writing about the Caerphillian mice. I enjoy making use of the scenic countryside in my current home here in Yorkshire as my inspiration, although I must confess, Ambert is a fictional village, and I can only hope that one day I'd be fortunate enough to live in Wensleydale.

My blog, here, is very self-indulgent. It's the place where my fictional Caerphillian mice briefly find themselves meeting the modern day world, but it also gives me the opportunity to explore, deepen, and develop charectors before putting pen to paper with them. I hope you'll join me and inspire me in this wonderfully fun (and of course cheesy) adventure, especially using twitter, facebook and the 'followers' link on the right hand side of this page!!!

With love and all God's blessings,

Faith xxx
